The vast majority of Irish immigrants (over 70%) first settled in the northeastern United States, primarily in cities such as Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston. A smaller percentage of Irish immigrants (around 20%) first settled in the southern United States, with many settling in cities such as Charleston and New Orleans. A tiny percentage of Irish immigrants (~2%) first settled in the western United States.
