What is the history of attorney licensing and regulations in the United States, Britain, and the colonies?
I wish to learn when law licensing was initiated, both as to "certification" and as to "licensing" if such a distinction applies in history. I'd like to know what the founders thought or would have thought about the subject. Anything you could add as to Britain's colonial and pre-colonial treatment of the profession might be useful too. Any further elaboration would be great.
