"Regulation is a control freak's wet dream. It gives bureaucrats the power to micro-manage all aspects of citizens' lives, ostensibly for our good. However, in reality, this power is rarely used altruistically. More often, it is abused to further the interests of those in positions of authority or to maintain the status quo.
Laws and regulations related to the business are usually intended to protect consumers from unfair or deceptive practices, ensure safety standards are met, and promote competition by preventing monopolies or other anti-competitive behavior. However, as with any other area of law, there is always plenty of room for interpretation – and conflict."
