Vienna Contract on Road Traffic - can I take my E-Bike (Moped) abroad?
I live in Switzerland and Switzerland does not recognize Mopeds as Motor Cycles. My fast electric bike is registered here as Moped, and it complies with the Swiss regulations. It has a power of 1000W, while in many other countries, fast electric bikes must not have more than 500W to be registered as mopeds. 1) Can I drive it in a country that doesn’t consider Mopeds as Motor Cycles (e.g. Austria)? 2) Can I drive it in a country that declared to treat Mopeds as Motor Cycles (e.g. Germany), if it complies with the rules of the contract, especially the technical rules of appendix 5?
