"The UK does not take in a specific number of immigrants per year. Immigration is controlled by the UK Home Office, which sets caps on how many people can come to the UK each year. This is done through a points-based system, which assesses an applicant's skills, qualifications, and language ability. In recent years, the number of immigrants coming to the UK has decreased. In 2016, net migration (the difference between people arriving in and leaving the UK) was 246,000. This was down from 333,000 in 2015 and 336,000 in 2014."
