Sue someone from the US as a EU citizen
The issue is rather simple, a company owes me money, and they are refusing to pay all of a sudden. (We’ve worked together for years, never had a problem until now) Is there a way to bring an action against them even though I’m not on American soil?

He is based in New Jersey, and runs a wedding production company. I did edits for him for 7 years, both directly or through an intermediary. We didn't have a signed contract, but we do have whasapp communications. The intermediary disappeared, so he contacted me directly he gave me work for about 6 months, after I sent him the invoice, he said he'll take care of it, then that he has taken care of it.. when I confronted him, a few months later, about not paying me, he said the work wasn't up to par, so he's not paying anything. (though he has used it always praised it in the comments after receiving a project, and has been using my work for over 7 years) I have always been paid through the intermediary, this is the first time we worked directly, though we had communications in the past, all civil and great.

Hi, I need to find out some issues before providing any answer to your question. 1) Do you have a signed contract? 2) If there is a contract, where did it happen? 3) Is it an American-based company? if so, where are they located? 4) What was the subject of the contract? 5) Have they paid you before or they've never paid the amount due. Please answer these questions, then I will provide you with my initial legal opinion. Thanks.
