Is threatening to assault someone over a phone call illegal
My friend has received some phone calls from a person he knows claiming that he is going to assault him. Claims like “I’m going to bash your head.” ETC. I’m wondering if these threats are a crime and if I could give any advice to my friend

Hi there, Yes it is a crime to harrass someone and make threats of violence. I suggest he makes a formal complaint to the police and with their assistance, files an Intervention Order. This is free to do and should prevent the unwanted contact from occurring.
