For lower positions such as an entry examiner or immigration inspector, applicants must have a college degree related to law enforcement. Assistant commissioners require a graduate degree in any discipline, while commissioners must have a doctorate in any discipline. In addition to having the appropriate educational requirements, all applicants must pass a written examination and undergo a comprehensive background investigation."
