Germany accepts a maximum of 200,000 immigrants per year. This number is based on the capacity of German society to absorb and integrate newcomers into the workforce and community. Merkel has recently increased this number to allow more refugees, but the total number of immigrants allowed into Germany will still not exceed 200,000.
