Employment contract termination during the COVID-19 pandemic
For the past six months, I have been working for a tech company as an Independent Contractor in the province of Ontario, Canada. The contract provides that "at the end of the ninety-day probationary period, the position will be reviewed, and if satisfactory, the continuation of this contract will be confirmed at a rate and engagement model agreed by both parties." Following the conclusion of the mentioned 90 days period, my supervisor promised me verbally to put me on payroll and make me a full-time employee. After a while, I approached him once more and there is still no following up from him regarding my contract. On April 1, 2020, he terminated my contract during the COVID-19 pandemic when I needed a job urgently. I am not sure If I can do any legal action in this regard.
