If you are a non-citizen and your child is a Canadian citizen, you may be deported from Canada. Canadian citizenship does not automatically protect a person from deportation if they are the parent of a Canadian citizen child. The factors that are taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to deport a parent of a Canadian citizen child include whether or not the parent has been convicted of a crime, whether or not the child is in danger if their parent is deported, and whether or not it is in the best interests of the child to deport their parent.
