Phishing through SMS or email is an actionable criminal offence in Pakistan under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016. Hacking secret government files is particularly treated as a very serious issue in Pakistan. A complaint can be lodged to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) along with the relevant evidence initiating criminal proceedings which could lead to the arrest of the offender and a sentence if convicted.
