"Yes, babies born in Canada automatically become Canadian citizens. Citizenship is acquired by ""birth on Canadian soil"" (jus soli), meaning that as long as the child is born on Canadian land, they will receive a Citizenship Certificate. Children with one parent who is a Canadian citizen and one who is not may also apply for citizenship. Newborns don't receive any documents to prove their status as citizens, but they can get proof of citizenship once they turn 18 by applying for a passport. So if you were born in Canada, congrats- you're already a citizen!"
