Only a few senators have staff that handles immigration issues. However, if you have a specific place you are trying to go to, it may be worth researching which senator’s office is responsible for that country. When people think of immigration, they often only think of legal permanent residents or citizens, but there are many different types of visas. Senators’ staff can usually help with expediting visas or getting answers to general questions about the immigration process. In some cases, such as with refugees or asylees, Congress has oversight of the executive branch’s policies and can provide avenues of recourse that might otherwise be unavailable.
