What are the conditions under which personal data can be sold in the UK?
Say that a business has a list of customers' names, telephone numbers, email addresses, and job titles. This business would wish to sell this data to another business and the customers in the list have not been made aware that their data may be sold. Would the sale of such data be compliant with UK laws, e.g. the Data Protection Act?

Selling personal data is a breach of the Data Protection Act 2018. According to article 2(1)(a) "(1)The GDPR, the applied GDPR and this Act protect individuals about the processing of personal data, in particular by (a)requiring personal data to be processed lawfully and fairly, based on the data subject’s consent or another specified basis," Ultimately, selling data needs the customers’ consent. .
