It depends on the contract, Generally speaking, an employer has the right to terminate a contract, but there may be specific provisions protecting the employee from being terminated without cause. In most cases, if an employer does choose to terminate a contract, they are required to give the employee a reasonable amount of notice (usually at least two weeks). If the termination is for misconduct or poor performance on the part of the employee, then the employer is not typically required to provide any notice.
