Is a renter of a room in France required by law to provide proof of residence?
In France, each resident is obliged to maintain proof of residence and French landlords frequently don't want to give this document. On the other hand, this forms difficulties for the renter as proof of residence is required to obtain many mandatory services. Is this document mandatory to be provided by the landlord to the renter?

French Landlords are obliged to provide a "Quittance de Loyer" which is a monthly receipt attesting that the renter paid the rent if this document is requested by the renter. This document is one of the accepted documents to prove residence. You will also need your rental agreement and any other documents such as electricity bills, taxes certificates, transport tickets, bank statements, etc. Do not hesitate to contact me for further information :)
