Can an existing employer force his/her employee to use a personal vehicle for business purposes?
If an employee refuses to use his/her own car for business purposes, is it possible to dismiss him/her or begin disciplinary proceedings in the UK? Further information: The employer is offering to pay mileage at a rate that covers fuel and wear and tear, however, the employee would be transporting children to and from school and argues that it would not cover damage and cleaning caused by the children, as well as generally not wishing to use their car regardless of expenses.
